How many photos go in a wedding album?
Updated 2026-11-08
A typical 12×36 wedding album spread holds between 1 and 8 photos, so an album of 20 to 30 spreads usually uses about 80 to 150 photos. Hero spreads with one large photo slow the story down; collage spreads with several photos cover rituals and family groups.
Per spread
One large photo for portraits and key moments; two to four for a scene such as the ring exchange; six to eight for rituals, decor or guests.
Per album
Choose the number of spreads first (often 15 to 40), then aim for an average of four to five photos per spread.
Choosing
Start from the photographer's selects, keep one photo per moment, and make sure every important family member appears at least once.
